Graveside services for Dennis Wayne Shaw will be held April 9, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Haven of Memories Memorial Park, Canton, Texas.

Dennis is a native of Canton and is survived by his beloved wife, Diana; daughter, Suzanne Denise Harmon (Mike); son, David Samuel Shaw

(Elizabeth); stepchildren, William Hall (Elia), Jessica Robertson (Chris), Amanda Schweinberg (Matt); 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

As a young man, Dennis and his family were members of the First Baptist Church in Canton.

Dennis excelled in high school sports as a Canton Eagle and was an All-District honoree in basketball, football and track. He was a leader and co-captain of the 1964 record-setting Canton Eagles Football team. Dennis was respected by his peers and teachers.

Dennis earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business and marketing from the University of Texas at Arlington. His administrative career in retail was with Sam’s Club.

Dennis was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was a natural born leader with a servant’s heart. Known affectionately as “Chef D” he developed a flair for cooking and his family and friends enjoyed his culinary flare. A project close to his heart was the Canton family home that he and Diana remodeled.
