In response to COVID-19, the East Texas Food Bank is holding an emergency food box distribution on Tuesday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at First Monday Trade Days in Canton. ETFB will be distributing emergency food boxes and accompanying fresh products such as fresh milk, fresh produce or protein (depending upon availability) to each household while supplies last. The boxes contain shelf-stable groceries such as dried beans, rice, pasta and canned meat, fruits and vegetables. Each box will provide items for 16 meals. To receive a free box, community members just need to provide their name and address. There are no eligibility requirements or identification needed. Families will need to enter from the public entrance at the First Monday West Gate on CR 859. The distribution is drive-thru only and walkups will not be accepted. ETFB is prepared to serve 700 families at the distribution. The distribution will be supported by Texas Army National Guardsmen, Manna, Inc. Food Pantry and Crossroads Canton.
