Gerald D. Chamblee

Services for Gerald D. Chamblee, 93, of Canton, were held Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Steve Glosup and Bro. Ronnie Daniell officiating. Interment was held in High Cemetery.

He was born in the Old Bethel Community on Dec. 12, 1925. He passed peacefully through Heaven’s Gate on Sept. 25, 2019, welcomed by a host of family and friends.

Gerald D. was a proud resident of Van Zandt County. His ancestors settled here in 1852. He was an outdoorsman who loved to camp, farm, and fish, and he loved sharing his family history and photo albums of his loved ones and his travels.

He grew up in the Old Bethel Community where he attended school. Gerald D. loved God, family, ranching, and his country.

He served in the Army Air Corp. from 1946-1947. He was a successful rancher and entrepreneur. Gerald D. worked hard from sunrise to sunset on his beautiful 7UP Ranch, aka Chamblee Creek Ranch.

He raised top grade beef cattle and produced quality coastal hay. Gerald was a proud member of the Eustace Masonic Lodge No. 1199 A.F. & A.M. for 49 years. Gerald was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church. Throughout his career, Gerald D. built a reputation of honor, trust and integrity.

Gerald D. married his beloved Dana Beth on Sept. 20, 1952. Together, they celebrated 67 years of marriage. Their love for one another was steadfast and a true testament of devotion.

Gerald D. was preceded in death by his parents, R.F. “Dutch” and Oma Jewel Thormahlen Chamblee; brothers Jamie Cain, Truett, Bobby Joe, and Roland Chamblee; and sister, Marium Cain Marshall.

Left to cherish Gerald D’s memory is his adoring wife, Dana Beth; daughters, Debra and Tommy Miller and Donna and Bill Burns; son, James Maverick and Sherry Chamblee; brother, Adrian Chamblee; and sisters, Katie Stout and Peggy Ann Black. Gerald D. leaves six precious grandchildren, Shane Miller, Stacey Johnson, Matt Miller, Cody Wilkerson, Lana Abbott, and Eric Wilkerson; and his legacy continues with a whopping 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
