Memorial service for Hollis Raymond “Ray” Smith, II, 62, of Canton, formerly of Wills Point, was held Friday, May 10, 2019, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Rev. Ronnie Daniell officiating. He passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 7, 2019, at Canton Oaks Nursing Home surrounded by his family. Ray was born Dec. 7, 1956, in Wills Point, the son of Hollis Raymond Smith, Sr. and Jackie Wathena Goodman Smith. He was raised in Wills Point and was a graduate of Wills Point High School in 1975. He was a carpenter by trade and was great at anything he put his mind to. He and Lynne Pierce had been together since Sept. 6, 1993 and on Oct. 2, 2003, they were married. He lived in Wills Point prior to moving to Canton in 1981. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, dominoes and pool. He was a member of the Wills Point Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Jackie Smith, and two sisters, Deborah Lorraine Alexander and Alicia Wilson. Survivors include his wife, Lynne Pierce-Smith, of Canton; two sons, Jason Groom and wife, Hollie, and Adam Smith and wife, Courtney; two daughters, Holly Lynne Patterson and husband, Kelon and Rianna Lynne Brite and husband, Bobby; brother, Dennis Smith and wife, Nancy; sister, Mendy Renz; four grandsons; seven granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
