Kenny Francis Prewitt left this earth to join his wife, Kimberli, in their heavenly home on Jan. 3, 2022.
Kenny was born in Austin on Sept. 29, 1973. While he was growing up, he enjoyed going with his grandfather to work on a ranch he managed on what was then the rural outskirts of Austin. This early interaction with wildlife, cattle and the land led him to pursue a career in agriculture. After graduating from Travis High School in Austin in 1992, Kenny attended Texas Tech University where he obtained a degree in Agriculture Economics and Range and Wildlife Biology in Natural Resources. While at Texas Tech, Kenny met the love of his life, Kimberli Kimbrough. The couple married Aug. 9, 1997. They spent the first 10 years of their marriage as wildlife managers on a ranch in South Texas. In 2007, Kenny obtained a job as a natural resource specialist with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. In this position, he worked with landowners in Knox and Wilbarger Counties helping them assess and improve the natural resources on their land. In 2012, he became the USDA-NRCS District Conservationist for Clay County, working out of the USDA office in Henrietta. Kenny enjoyed working with farmers and ranchers and was well respected by his peers for his knowledge of grasses and soils. He was a creative thinker and excellent problem solver in all kinds of situations. He was a true advocate for the natural resources on the land, while also being practical and helping landowners achieve their production goals on their farms and ranches. Kenny loved spending time with his family and cheering his kids on at sporting events and helping them at livestock shows. He enjoyed taking his family on road trips and going camping – anywhere from beautiful state parks to a big adventure in the backyard. Kenny was a wonderful dad, mentor, and friend to many, and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by daughters, M’Lynn and Morgan Grace; son, Mason; parents, Kenneth and Susan Prewitt; sister, Jenny and husband Danny Pitt; Uncle James Prewitt and wife, Sonya; Uncle Skeet; father and mother-in-law, Gale and Vickie Kimbrough; brother-in-law, Cale Kimbrough, sister-in-law Misty Kimbrough, and brother-in-law, Corey, and wife, Melissa Kimbrough; as well as four nieces and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kimberli. A viewing was held at the Davis Funeral Home at 316 South Bridge Street in Henrietta on Friday, Jan. 7. A service for Kenny was held on Sunday, Jan. 9, at the Cowboy Church of Henrietta, 1784 Us Highway 287 N, Henrietta, TX 76365 with burial folowing at the Byers Cemetery.
