Lucille Geddie was born December 22, 1925, in Colfax, Texas, to the late Eugene Matthews and Tillie White Matthews. She and her husband moved to Lancaster in 1950 and then settled back in Ben Wheeler in 1981 for retirement. Lucille had been a member of the Colfax Methodist Church since childhood. She enjoyed quilting and made more than 2,000 quilts, mostly baby quilts donated to underprivileged children. She was an avid reader and noted for her baking skills. She was a positive role model, making the best of what life offers and appreciating every moment.
Lucille passed away at the age of 96 on July 20. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.D. Geddie, Jr.; daughter, Sandra Kay Geddie, and six brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her children, Tom Geddie of Ben Wheeler; P.A. Geddie of Ben Wheeler, and Mike Geddie and wife, Sherrie, of Canton; grandson raised as a son, Michael Geddie and wife, Iris; brother, Buddy Matthews of Midland; grandchildren, Matt Geddie, and Jill Couchman and husband, Bryan; great-grandchildren, Luke Geddie; Lincoln Couchman, and Fletcher Couchman, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to acknowledge her beloved caregiving team at Canton Oaks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canton Oaks Nursing and Rehab.
