Octavia (Sis) Kirkland Hill was born on August 10, 1926, in Van Zandt County and went home to be with her Lord on June 10, 2022. She peacefully passed away on the same homestead where she was born 95 years ago. She was the first of three daughters born to William Abe and Flora Davis Kirkland.

Waiting for her in her heavenly home was her husband of 46 years, Howard Hill; her parents, William Abe and Flora Kirkland; sisters, Bessie Mae Smith and Miriam Tullos, and her niece, Vicki Kling.

Octavia is survived by her nephews, Lee Smith and wife, Debbie; Harold Kling, and niece, Janice Watters and husband, Pacal. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Wilkison and her children, nephews, Brian Wilkison and wife, Medeanna; Billy George Wilkison and wife, Sandy, and niece, Carol Wilkison. Octavia was blessed with numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

After Octavia’s retirement from Walmart, she enjoyed reading and crocheting. Many nursing home residents were the recipients of her crocheted lap blankets which she crafted with love. Her favorite book was her Bible, which she read each day and was well versed in its scripture. She lived her life by its words.The love of her family and friends was immeasurable, but most of all she loved her Lord with all her heart. Those who knew and loved her were blessed to have had her on their lives.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 17, 2022, at Zion Hill Assembly of God Church under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. Burial followed at Zion Hill Cemetery.
