Sherry Raley

A graveside service for Sherry Gayle Raley, 70, of Canton, was held Monday, Sept. 14, 2020, at Haven of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating.

Sherry passed away peacefully Sept. 12, 2020, at home. She was born Dec. 30, 1949, in Dallas, to Robert K. McBride and Betty Robertson McBride.

Sherry grew up in Desoto and graduated from Desoto High School in 1968. On Dec. 30, 1985, she married Buford Raley, Jr. They moved to the Canton area in 1989. Sherry loved to travel. England, Ireland and Jamaica were some of her favorite places. She was a foster mom to several boys, whom she dearly loved as her own. Sherry raised and spoiled chocolate Labs for many years. Sherry became “Nana” in 1996 when her first grandchild was born and has been “Nana” to everyone ever since. She loved her family and will be dearly missed.

Sherry is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Kori and Ignacio Acevedo; grandchildren, Alex Spencer Acevedo and Brady Cole Acevedo; sister and brother in-law, Karen and Jerry Beeson; niece, Amy Dodson; and extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Betty McBride; beloved husband, Buford Raley, Jr.; son, John Brady Lewis; brother, Robert Clayton McBride; and grandmother, Ura McBride.
