The Van Zandt County Genealogical Society has lost a long-time member and dear friend.  She is well-known to many of you because she helped a large number of people in her active years with out Society.  Sibyl Creasey worked tirelessly as a Librarian as well as publishing books, which were a great help to researchers.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale William Creasey; brothers, Charles Dunn and Joe Dunn; brothers-in-law, John Moore and Bob Tarver; and grandson, Roger Scott Jr.  She is survived by daughters, Peggy Dixon (Keith), Crystal O’Leary (Terry); sons, Bob Savary (Liz), Scott Savary and Michael Jerome; sisters, Janice Moore, Betsey May (Stan), Dempsey Tarver and Vicki Bare; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Sibyl helped set up the present Van Zandt County Library of Genealogy and Local History in the 1980’s, and spent many hours researching, helping others with research, and working on publications for the genealogical society.  Sibyl also submitted a weekly column to the Canton Herald, titled “This Week in Canton History”.  Her first column appeared in the Oct. 17, 2002 issue, and continued until her move to West Virginia to live with her daughter.

She was also a member of the Jesse Miller Foster Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy.

She was an excellent genealogist and will be missed by al of the Van Zandt County Genealogical Society family.
