Sitting under the covered boathouse at Mill Creek Resort on Lake Texoma last week several boats loaded with anglers anxious to get out on the water for a morning of striper fishing were sipping coffee and making small talk. I was in one of these boats, along with my grandson Jackson Zimmerman and good friend Jeff Rice. Rain was pounding on the metal roof above us and off in the distance lightening was popping and thunder booming.
Seniors and juniors at Canton High School finally were able to hold a prom night on June 13 at the Canton Civic Center after restrictions and guidelines due to the coronavirus threatened to not allow prom. The theme of the prom was ‘Arabian Nights’ which included a live camel for photos. Chris Cade and Lottie Adams were crowned junior prom king and queen and Justice Collier and Sydney Ellis were named the senior prom king and queen. Photos by Faith Caughron

On Tuesday, June 2, 2020, Norma J. (Volcik) Worley, 82, passed from this life at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, after a short struggle with poor health. She lived 10 years in Emory, Rains County, before moving into assisted living with her late husband of 63 years, Billy D. Worley, who preceded her in death in 2019.
Gina L. (Grimes) Podhorecka (59) of Warsaw, Poland, passed away June 11, 2020, seven months after being diagnosed with cancer. She was the daughter of Judy (Griffin) Grimes of Canton and the late Kenneth Merl Grimes.
Cecil Robinson, age 78 of Mineola, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at his home in Mineola.
