“What happens when you give a child a CASA?” As I’m talking to people in our community about becoming a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) this question has been the one to warm my heart. Of all the tangible gifts we can give, the gift of time and effort through being a CASA to a child in foster care, is by far one of the most influential gifts I’ve witnessed.
We have moles… or maybe gophers… but I think it’s moles, because they’re making little hills all over my yard. Now, my wife is not happy about all the little piles of dirt they’re leaving, but I consider it “free landscaping”. They’re adding contours to the patch of weeds in front of our house, and giving me pre-dug dirt I can use to fill in the pits left by other molehills that collapsed.
First Husband and I planned a long time for our retirement, and looked forward to what was next. We had worked and done our best, and felt in our hearts we deserved all the wonderful things that the next chapter had to offer. So we sold our house in the burbs and moved to the country.

Delores Irene Cory Lutzinger, 74, of Wills Point, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020. She had been a resident of Oxford Glen Memory Care Home since May of 2018.
