The Neches River Chapter NSDAR met in Canton July 14. Chapter member Patricia Thibodeau gifted a Lantern for the chapter to Vice Regent Rose Ann Ward. The chapter has received Lantern Status from the Daughters of the American Revolution.

DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America. Daughters are vibrant, active women who are passionate about community service, preserving history, educating children, as well as honoring and supporting those who serve our nation. More than 1,000,000 women have joined the organization since it was founded over 125 years ago.

The Neches River Chapter NSDAR meets in Canton monthly from March through September and often hosts patriotic programs other times of the year. The chapter offers Good Citizen Certificates and a Scholarship to Van Zandt County high school seniors each year.
