American Rescue Plan Funding requests approved
Requests for proposals regarding American Rescue Plan Funding projects received unanimous approval from the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court during its regular meeting May 11.
Trott Communications Group Manager of RF Engineering Barry Black of Irving discussed two projects VZC is involved in regarding the use of American Rescue Plan Funding.
The first project involved the purchase of console furniture and carpet, in addition to a couple of chairs, for the VZC Sheriff’s Department’s dispatch center at a cost of $67,900.71.
“That price includes three dispatch console furniture setups, new carpet for the new dispatch center as well as the supervisor’s office,” said Black to the commissioners’ court. “Also, there will be two chairs similar to what is there now. This is all custom made to fit that room perfectly.”
Black said the furniture items should be delivered within the next 90 days. The request received unanimous approval from the commissioners’ court.
Requests for proposals involving a P25 Trunked Radio System for the VZC Sheriff’s Department also received unanimous approval from the commissioners’ court following a separate presentation by Black.
In a related move, the commissioners’ court agreed to enter into an interlocal agreement with Hunt County regarding the P25 Trunked Radio System following a request from VZC Pct. 1 Commissioner Chad LaPrade.
Requests for proposals for the preservation, conservation, imaging, indexing, and microfilming of VZC files from the VZC District Clerk’s office were approved by the commissioners’ court.
In other action during the May 11 regular meeting, the commissioners’ court adopted an order authorizing the sale of fireworks from May 25 through midnight May 30 for the Memorial Day holiday.
Following a request from VZC Pct. 2 Commissioner Virgil Melton Jr., the submission of an application to the Northeast Texas Regional Mobility Authority for a grant to build an exit ramp for traffic to enter westbound Interstate 20 from VZCR 2629 was approved by the commissioners’ court.
The Dry lacy Estates subdivision in VZC Pct. 2 was approved by the commissioners’ court after a separate request by Melton.
Following a request by VZC Pct. 3 Commissioner Keith Pearson, the W Street Addition subdivision, located in VZC Pct. 3, was approved by the commissioners’ court.
Big Tex Campgrounds, located in VZC Pct. 4, was approved following a request by VZC Pct. 4 Commissioner Tim West.
A subdivision variance on the sale of Rohus property on VZCR 3609 was approved by the commissioners’ court after a request by Pearson.
Following a separate request by Pearson, the commissioners’ court approved a subdivision variance on a one-tenth acre of land trade on FM 751.
A series of fiscal year 2022 budget amendments were approved by the commissioners’ court.
Monthly reports submitted by various offices and departments of VZC government were approved and entered into the minutes of the commissioners’ court as a matter of record.
Minutes from the meetings of April 27 and May 4 were approved by the commissioners’ court as well as the VZC bills for payment as submitted.
At the end of the May 11 regular meeting, a closed executive session was planned but VZC Judge Don Kirkpatrick announced that the closed portion of the meeting was being cancelled prior to adjourning the open meeting.
The next regular meeting of the VZC Commissioners Court is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, in the VZC Courthouse.
