Van to celebrate Cinco de Mayo Saturday, May 14

The Van Area Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a Cinco de Mayo celebration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the old Van City Park located at 300 VZCR 1527.

According to a chamber spokesperson, there will be entertainment for all ages including vendors and food.

The ‘Employee of the Year’, the ‘Business of the Year’ and the ‘Citizen of the Year’ will be recognized during the Cinco de Mayo celebration.

There will be a playground, a skate park, games and a splash pad, weather permitting, according to the chamber. Everyone is invited to attend.

Terrell Taco Festival set for May 7

The City of Terrell and the Terrell Chamber of Commerce/CVB are sponsoring the Terrell Taco Festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 7. The event will be held on Nash and Adelaide Streets near Terrell City Hall.

This family-oriented community festival will include a DJ as well as Mariachi Viva Mexico, Azonante performing on stage. There will be pinata and sombrero contests and activities for kids of all ages at our Kids Zone area.

Arts and Craft vendors will have specialty shopping items at their booths and of course, there will be many Taquerias in attendance, as well as other food vendors. At this year’s event the Knights of Columbus will be selling beer and wine-based margaritas after receiving a TABC special event permit. No outside beer or wine will be allowed.

The fun-filled day will cap off with a Terrell’s Best Taco Trophy being award to the event’s best taco.
