With filing for available spots on both the Canton City Council and Canton ISD Board of Trustees opening on Wednesday, Jan. 18, interested candidates had the opportunity to officially throw their hat in the ring this past week.

Canton mayor Lou Ann Everett was the lone filer at city hall, as she formally announced her bid for re-election.

Everett has held the position of mayor of Canton since 2015.

The Canton ISD Board of Trustees had not received any candidacy packets at the time of press.

Candidate packets for a seat on the city council will be available at the Canton City Hall building, located at 201 N Buffalo St, during normal business hours.

Candidacy packets for a seat on the board of trustees are currently available for pick-up at the Canton ISD Administration office, located at 1045 S Buffalo St.

Interested candidates have until the Feb. 17 deadline to file for candidacy.
