Nicks, Wilkerson to lead class

The Canton High School Class of 2022 will hold commencement ceremonies at 7:30 p.m., at Norris Birdwell Stadium on the football field.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved into the Larry David Auditorium. There are no tickets required to attend the ceremony.

Valedictorian Avery Nicks and Salutatorian Katie Wilkerson will lead the class.

Valedictorian

Avery Nicks is the valedictorian for the Canton High School Class of 2022. Avery plans to attend Harding University in the fall to study psychology to purse a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. “I hope I can use my degree to start a career as a family therapist,” stated Avery.

At Canton High School, Avery was a member of the Canton Mighty Eagle Band, One-Act Play, CHS tennis team, UIL Academics, Speech and Debate, CHS Student Council, National Honor Society and the CHS Eagle Impact Leadership Club.

Avery is the daughter of Joe and Jamie Nicks and has two older siblings, Emily and Riley. She has been a student at Canton ISD since kindergarten and attends and is a member of the Canton Church of Christ.

Salutatorian

Katie Wilkerson is the salutatorian for the Canton High School Class of 2022. Katie plans to attend Texas A&M University in the fall where she will major in electrical engineering.

At Canton High School, Katie is involved in varsity basketball, varsity golf, varsity tennis, student leadership, and National Honor Society, where she serves as president.

Katie is the daughter of Josh and Casey Wilkerson, and she has a younger brother, Jake. She has lived in Canton her whole life and has been a student at Canton ISD since kindergarten. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Canton where she is active in the youth group.
