Republican Club of VZ meeting Monday, Sept. 16 in Canton
Suzanne Duke
Republican Club of Van Zandt County Vice-President
Van Zandt County as well as most counties in Texas are rural agricultural counties.
Is there a problem with foreign countries especially those who are our adversaries owning agricultural properties?
Last year, the Texas Senate passed legislation to ban China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia from purchasing Texas land, but the bill was ultimately killed in the Texas House under the leadership of House Speaker Dade Phelan.
Other states have passed such laws, but do they infringe on individual property rights, which is the position of the Texas Farm Bureau.
Brandon Waltens with the Texas Scorecard will be the guest speaker discussing this vital issue at the next Republican Club of VZC meeting.
The meeting is Monday, Sept. 16 starting at 7 p.m. and will be held at the VZC Farm Bureau Event Center located at 220 Burnett Trail in Canton.
As always, the public is invited to attend. If you have any questions about this meeting, please reach out to Dr. Dwayne Collins, club president at president@vzcrc.org or Suzanne Duke, club vice president at vicepresident@vzcrc.org.
