Run for the Wall to make local stop
Run for the Wall, an annual motorcycle ride promoting military veterans and honoring service, passed through the area early Sunday morning and included a stop at a pit stop at Brookshire’s in Terrell.
Carrying the motto “We Ride For Those Who Can’t” from Ontario, CA to Washington, D.C., RFTW was organized to promote healing among all veterans and their families and friends, to call for an accounting of all Prisoners of War and Those Missing in Action, to honor the memory of those Killed in Action from all wars, and to support military personnel all over the world.
During their journey across the country, riders visit VA Medical Centers, Veterans’ Memorials, Veterans’ Outreach Facilities, VFW Posts, American Legion Posts, and Community Centers, as well as schools along the routes. The Southern Route, which included the Terrell stop and 422 registered riders, set out from California before making stops in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and Virginia.
The ride is scheduled to culminate with participation in Rolling Thunder’s “Ride For Freedom” in Washington, D.C. on May 31.
Other routes from this year’s Run for the Wall that also set off from Ontario, CA were the Central Route, which includes 516 registered riders, the Midway Route, which includes 281 registered riders, and the Sandbox Route, which includes and 383 riders.
