Van Zandt County reports 94 new COVID cases

The number of newly confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases reported in Van Zandt County increased by 97 last week according to figures published by the Northeast Texas Public Health District July 21. Van Zandt County had seen 6,968 confirmed cases and 4,909 probable cases since the pandemic was first tracked.

The number of cases in Van Zandt County since the pandemic began now includes: 3,366 in residents with a Canton address, up from 3,341 cases as of June 30; 2,971 cases in residents with a Wills Point address, up from 2,952 cases; 1,420 cases in people with a Grand Saline address, up from 1,411 cases; 1,329 cases in residents with a Ben Wheeler address, up from 1,311 cases; 1,067 cases in residents with a Van address, up from 1,060 cases; 917 cases in residents with an Edgewood address, up from 908 cases; and 382 cases in residents with a Fruitvale address, up from 379 cases.

Additionally, there have been 169 cases in residents with a Murchison address, up from 168 cases as of June 30; 166 confirmed and probable cases in residents with a Mabank address, up from 164 cases; 140 cases in residents with an Eustace address, up from 137 cases; 80 cases in residents with a Chandler address, up from 79 cases; 34 cases in residents with an Athens addresses, unchanged from the previous reporting period; 20 cases in residents with a Brownsboro address, unchanged from the previous reporting period; and 14 cases in residents with an Edom address, unchanged from the previous reporting period.

COVID-19 cases by age group have included the following:

-0-20 years of age: 1,247, up from 1,233 cases the previous week

-21-40 years of age: 1,999, up from 1,982 cases the previous week

-41-59 years of age: 1,998, up from 1,984 cases the previous week

-60-79 years of age: 1,416, up from 1,396 cases the previous week

-80+ years of age: 308, up from 300 cases the previous week

Vaccination Rate

Data available as of July 25 indicated that 42.73 percent of the eligible local population had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 38.14 percent of all eligible residents had been designated as being fully vaccinated.

Among all eligible residents 65 and older, 73.46 percent have received at least one dose of the vaccine while 68.32 percent have been designated as being fully vaccinated.
