Canton Main Street has released an article regarding a new program to maintain and beautify portions of downtown Canton. The program largely focuses on areas on certain streets in downtown Canton between the streets of Trade Days Boulevard, W. Church Street, across W. Tyler St., Dallas St, Terrell St and over to Groves Street.

“We just finished celebrating Earth Day, but that doesn’t mean thinking about our little section of Earth should stop. In honor of Earth Day, the Canton Texas Main Street Program unveiled a new initiative called “Adopt-a-Block.”

“The Canton Adopt-a-Block program has been established for groups who want to help maintain and beautify a particular area of our downtown. Much like a business can adopt a stretch of highway to keep clean, there are many blocks downtown that could use help in a similar way. We are asking any businesses, organizations, or groups of individuals to take part in our program by helping us keep litter picked up, weeds pulled, and notifying us of any possible graffiti. Areas could include roadways, alleys, or other open areas. This is a great opportunity for businesses to partner with the Main Street Program to help clean up our downtown area and be recognized for their contribution.

“If you or someone you know might be interested, reach out to Canton Main Street at 903-567-1851 or visit the website at www.cantonmainstreet.org/adopta-block and fill out a short form. Quality of life in Canton is a top priority for us, and we know businesses share the same feeling. There are several different areas to choose from, but each area being cleaned up makes a big difference in the overall look and feel of downtown and that makes a big difference in keeping Canton beautiful.”
