John went to his heavenly home on July 29, 2024, in Tyler. He was born on November 26, 1949, in Des Arc, Arkansas to William Henry Dunlap and TruVere Haas Dunlap.

John grew up in De Soto, Missouri and attended grades one through 11 there. In 1966, his family moved to Little Rock where he graduated from high school.

He spent time in the Air National Guard and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in North Little Rock, Arkansas, transferring to Texas a few years. later. John started his career as a brakeman, and he retired as an engineer after 42 wonderful years. He took pride in keeping America moving.

John married his true love, Sandra Wycough, on June 16, 1994. The couple built a beautiful life together. John attended First Baptist Church of Canton. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. John could be found most days on his dozer or baling hay, but his best days were spent on camping trips. Colorado was a favorite camping spot for him. John dearly loved his family and loved spending time with them. His family will cherish the love and memories he has left them and live with the peace of knowing they will see again.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and TruVere Dunlap; and sister in-law, Nancy Dunlap.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Dunlap; son, Casey Dunlap; daughters, Ginny Dunlap, Barbara Dunlap, Jonna Reid and husband, Kevin; Amy Autry and husband, Tom; and Amber Depauw and husband, Josh; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; siblings: Carolyn and Doug Franklin; Mary Dunlap, Jim Dunlap, Brenda and Harold Williams; Gwen and John Whitmore; a host of other family and friends.

Final resting place is at Haven of Memories Cemetery in Canton.
