Shirley Ann Fuller

A graveside service was held for Shirley Fuller on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Felps Cemetery, near Thicket, Texas.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Van Zandt County/Sarah Norman Library in Canton.
Shirley Ann Jacobs Fuller was born on February 22, 1925, in Los Angeles, California, and spent her early days in the High Desert.
In her earlier years, she worked as a loan officer for Bank of America in California for 30 years. She had been a resident of Canton since 1983.
She was a vibrant figure in the community and a big contributor to local history. She loved genealogy and was active in the Van Zandt Genealogy Library.
She had a passion to help others trace their family roots. For years, she wrote monthly articles for various newspapers, utilizing her gift of storytelling and bringing history to life.
Her dedication to preserving history was infectious. Shirley was also a devoted member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (Jedediah Smith Chapter of Apple Valley, California) and the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies.
She remained active even though she was unable to drive and spent her days having lunch, at the hairdresser and visiting with friends thanks to a special friend, Marylou, who was her friend and activity planner for several years.
Shirley passed away at the age of 100 on July 19, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Fuller (2007); parents, Orlando Jacobs and Mildred Green Jacobs; sister, Milly Lou; and granddaughter, Laura Rankin.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Larry White of Canton; two grandsons, Eric White of Watauga and Brian White and wife, Erin, of College Station; great-grandchildren, Connor, Wesley, Matthew, Evan, Chelsea, Bryce, Brittani, and Christian; and great-great-grandchildren, Jayden, Ryder, Rayne, Kashton, and Hudson.
