Services for Samuel Ray Bass, 89, of Ben Wheeler, were held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. Interment was in Haven of Memories.

Sam passed away July 24, 2025, in Canton. He was born on July 7, 1936, in Edgewood to Samuel Pete and Tincy Jenny Lowe Bass.

Sam served in the U.S. Army, mostly in Germany, during the Korean War. After he returned to the States, he married Linda Hodges on April 28, 1961.

He worked for 7-Up prior to starting a 30-year career with Kelly Springfield Tire Company, retiring in January of 1993.

In retirement, he enjoyed working with his hands, tinkering with projects and carpentry.

He also enjoyed visiting with friends and mowing his pasture. He was a member of HeritageTrails Cowboy Church.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents: Pete Bass, Tincy Foshee and James Foshee; sister, Margie Lucas; and two brothers: Sol and Doug Bass.

Sam is survived by his wife, Linda Bass; son, Stan Bass; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Butch Love; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Kristi Bass; eight grandchildren and spouses: Candie and Scott Forbes, Heather and Matt Nelson, Cory andAmanda Davis, Madison and Grady Priest, Chandler Bass, Jackie Love, Delana Love, and Braxton and Kendall Love; 14 great-grandchildren: Angel and Corban, Kristen, Samantha, Lexi, Tatum, Lila, Bradley, Brynlee, Colby, Tyler, Gatlin, Millie, Mallory, and Christian; two great-great-grandchildren: Rogan and Alora; two brothers: Kenneth and Jerry Bass; special friends and helpers: Keith Rogers, Tina Herring, Colby Ruggles and Mike Thying; and numerous nieces and nephews.
