A Grave Side Service was held for Barbara Ann Gilstrap, 82, on September 3, 2025, at Eubank Haven of Memories Memorial Park.

Barbara passed away December 20, 2024, in Franklin, Tennessee after a lengthy illness.

Barbara was born on May 12, 1942. She grew up in Canton and graduated from Canton High School in 1960.

She attended Tyler Junior College for two years and then graduated from North Texas State University majoring in Performing Arts and Written Arts, then attended Dallas Theater Center prior to moving to New York City in 1967 where she resided for the next 25 years.

She worked as a legal secretary in the Financial Department of Banks. Barbara’s passion was in writing.

Barbara wrote a play in 1975 called ‘The Alto Part’ based on her life while living in Canton with her mother. It was performed Off Broadway 25 times. She also wrote a play that was performed in Canton at the Canton Community Theater.

Survivors include numerous cousins.
