Barbara Joy Baze Gentry, lovingly known to her family as ‘Grammy,’ went to join her Heavenly Father on November 15, 2025, at 90 years of age.

She was born on March 31, 1935, in Parsons, Kansas, to Teddy and Maxine Baze and grew up alongside her two younger siblings, Teddy and Claudia.

Barbara began working as a telephone operator during her senior year of high school and continued in that field for many years.

She raised her two children, Jeff and Kim, in San Angelo where she dedicated herself to providing a warm, supportive home.

Later in life, she moved to the Lubbock area to be closer to her beloved grandchildren: Crystal, Terrel, and Ian, who were a constant source of joy.

There, she also worked as a church secretary for over 10 years. Later, her family grew even further with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Kingston and Jude, whom she adored.

Barbara cherished her family above all else. She was known for attending every game, ceremony, and family event with enthusiasm and unwavering support.

Her presence was a gift, her encouragement constant, and her pride in her loved ones unmistakable.

Barbara also welcomed strangers as friends and valued every person she met. Many of those friendships grew into bonds that felt like family.

Her warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

An athlete at heart, Barbara played softball, bowled in leagues, golfed regularly, and mastered many card games.

Her competitive streak brought energy and fun to countless family gatherings. She also spent many joyful hours square dancing, round dancing, and ballroom dancing with friends.

Barbara’s life was filled with love, laughter, loyalty, and grace. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, presence, and sparkle that will continue to shine through the family and friends she cherished so deeply.
