New assistant HR director introduced
A new Van Zandt County employee was introduced to the VZC Commissioners Court June 22 during its regular meeting.
VZC Human Resource Director Jes sica Deville introduced Emily Bettinger as the new Assistant VZC Human Resource Director.
“Emily started her job yesterday (June 21),” said Deville to the commissioners’ court. “She brings seven years of work experience at Walmart. I know a little bit about her work history and her work ethic. I think she will be great for VZC. I will teach her everything I know, and I also know that she will teach me a few things as well.”
In other action during the June 22 regular meeting, following a recommendation by VZC Pct. 1 Commissioner Chad LaPrade, the commissioners’ court approved ‘No Thru Truck’ signs on VZCR 3121 and VZCR 3122.
Speed limits of 35 MPH on VZCR 2502 and VZCR 2504 were approved by the commis sioners’ court following separate recommendations by VZC Pct. 2 Commissioner Virgil Melton Jr.
The Northstarr Meadows plat, located on VZCR 1211 in VZC Pct. 1 was approved by the commissioners’ court following a recommendation by LaPrade.
After separate recommendations by VZC Pct. 3 Commissioner Keith Pearson, the commissioners’ court approved the Tyner Estates Plat, located on VZCR 3213 as well as the Myrtle Crossing Plat, located on VZCR 3440, both located in VZC Pct. 3.
The sale of a salvage propane tank from the VZC Pct. 3 Barn was approved by the commissioners’ court following a recommendation by Pearson.
Following another separate recommendation by Pearson, the commissioners’ court approved the short-term lease of a water tank truck from Texana Land and Asphalt Inc. of Sulphur Springs for VZC Pct. 3.
An interlocal agreement between VZC Pct. 1 Road and Bridge and the Edgewood Police Department was tabled by the commissioners’ court after a recommendation by LaPrade.
A request for proposals for the preservation and conservation, imaging, indexing and microfilming of files for the office of VZC District Clerk to be paid from the American Rescue Plan Fund totaling $833,836.54 was approved by the commissioners’ court following a recommendation by VZC Auditor Sandy Hill.
A series of fiscal year 2022 budget amendments were approved by the commissioners’ court.
The May 2022 Financial & Investment Report of the VZC Treasurer’s office was approved and entered into the minutes of the commissioners’ court.
Monthly reports submitted by various offices and departments of VZC government were approved and entered into the minutes of the commissioners’ court as a matter of record.
The minutes from the June 8 meeting as well as the VZC bills submitted for payment were approved by the commissioners’ court.
Following a closed executive session at the conclusion of their June 22 regular meeting, the commissioners’ court announced that a temporary full-time clerk position at the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) office in Canton for the time period of July 5-15 had been created following a unanimous vote.
The next regular meeting of the VZC Commissioners Court is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, in the VZC Courthouse.
