Dennis Townsend
In Death, as in life, Dennis Cecil Townsend touched the hearts of many people.
On September 23, 2026 he was called to heaven by our Lord. He passed at his home, in his sleep, surrounded by family and friends. His suffering was ended forever!
A 1960 graduate of Fort Morgan High School who continued his studies at Colorado State University for 3 1/2 years before feeling the need to do his part to defend our country. As a radar specialist in the U.S. Air Force. He served out his enlistment first in North Dakota and then in Germany.
During his time in Germany he was encouraged and accepted the opportunity to hone his skills as an automotive mechanic.
He returned to Colorado after his discharge, for a brief stay, before he migrated back to Texas, his birthplace. He quickly found a positive position with Ford by way of Canton Motors. Even a full-time job didn’t deter him from Public Service as he was also a volunteer fireman.
Once he was able, he proposed to and married Linda Burns. He also opened his own shop which was an extension of their home. He helped hundreds of Texans until his retirement in 2016.
He was also an active member of the Little Hope Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Burns) Townsend; sister, Eugenia; sister, Denise; father, Cecil Alton Townsend; and his mother, Zelda Faye (Wilkerson) Townsend. He and Linda had no children.
He is survived by his brother, Elton Lite Townsend and his wife, Aminda (Jacobs) Townsend; and his sister, Tonya Raye (Townsend) Rohde and her husband, Terry Rohde; and all of their children and grandchildren. Having made peace with his God, prior to his death, may he rest in Heaven through all of eternity!
