Daniel Anthony Catania, age 87, of Stoney Creek Drive in Lincolnton, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Mr. Catania was born June 11, 1939, in El Paso, Texas, son of the late Daniel and Concepcion Young Catania.

Mr. Catania was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather whose life was marked by service, creativity, and devotion to his family and community. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a founding member of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Washington, D.C. He also served as a past director and chairman of the Van Zandt County Veterans Memorial in Van Zandt County, Texas, where his commitment to honoring fellow veterans was deeply appreciated. A recognized and award-winning sculptor for Texas Freeze Brand Company, he hand-designed and sculpted iron hot, and brass freeze brands, each one a unique work of art reflecting his exceptional craftsmanship and creativity. His talents extended beyond metalwork. He was also a gifted woodworker and carpenter, creating hand-sculpted wooden rocking horses and custom logpole furniture that showcased his remarkable craftsmanship. Through his military service, community involvement, artistry, and, most importantly, his love for his family, he leaves behind a lasting legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Mr. Catania is survived by his wife, Rosalie M. Catania of the home; daughters, Vicki Messler and Rita Garson (Justin); sister, Cathleen Catania; and six grandsons.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Catania will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Lincolnton, NC, with the Reverend Elizabeth Tester officiating.
