Desperately needed rains brought a new set of challenges for local residents, by downing trees, flooding low lying areas including the First Monday grounds, closing roadways due to high water, washing away a portion of Arnold Paul Road in Canton and causing damage at the Van Zandt County Courthouse. Despite the heavy rainfall officials with the Van Zandt County Fire Marshal’s Office reiterated that the county remains under a burn ban until the situation could be evaluated further.
