The Van Zandt County Republican Club and the Van Zandt County Republican Women’s Club hosted a unity rally for Texas Senate District 2 Republicans. Party members from Van Zandt, Kaufman, Rockwall, Dallas, and Henderson counties were represented at the Farm Bureau in Canton on Monday evening Sept. 1.

The audience was welcomed by Van Zandt County Republican Club President Dr. Dwayne Collins and Jill Dutton the President of the Van Zandt County Republican Women. Both Dr. Collins and Dutton made note that the election primaries were over, and it was time to back their party’s chosen candidates and help them win the November general election.

Dr. Collins challenged the other counties by claiming Van Zandt County is the most conservative county in Texas by pointing out the county is represented by the two most conservative legislators in Austin, Senator Bob Hall, and Representative Bryan Slaton. He went on to say the commissioners court was also part of that conservative equation by virtue of having our county debt free with a $6 million reserve fund. He concluded his challenge to the other counties by saying that Texas leads the nation, and Van Zandt County will lead Texas.

Many officials from the other counties spoke on the need to work with each other in electing Republican candidates in November. The clarion call to action was articulately delivered

Dr. Myers pointed out the need to keep Texas Red. She referenced so many of the shortcomings of Democratic governance that has led our nation in the wrong direction. Under their watch inflation is at a record high brought on by high energy, food, and housing costs. The supply chain is worse than it has been since our country has faced a major war. Our very constitution that guarantees us the freedom of religion, speech, assembly, to bear arms, secure borders, due process of justice among other rights are under attack.

She further stated that our state’s social fabric is beginning to fray. The LBGQ+ agenda is running rampant with “Drag Queen” contest conducted with children present and “Drag Queen” story hour at our public libraries. Books in our public libraries and many school libraries that should be classified as porn and removed, transgender issues, the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman, and worst of all the left, despite the victory over Roe vs. Wade, wants to continue aborting babies. These are all ideologies of the progressive left.

She went on to say Texas has been a beacon to the nation by virtue of our Republican leadership. Republicans have held every major statewide elected office for the past 20 years and if it were not for many of the major Democratic “Blue” cities with their high crime rates and homelessness, we would even be stronger.

Dr. Myers warned her fellow Republicans that the Democrats are well funded, much of their money coming from other states. She stated that it wasn’t good enough to just win but the Republicans need to win by as large a margin as possible in order to send a message to the Democrats. To do that it will require the Republican Party members to work every facet of the election process from campaigning, to being a poll watcher or a polling judge. She left her fellow Republicans energized and ready to work hard to get their candidates elected in November.
