Running Eagles compete at Van Invitational

The Canton Running Eagles made the short trek to Van Sept. 17, competing against schools from across the area at the annual Youth With a Mission Meet. Canton would go on to put together a strong showing, placing first overall in both the varsity boys and varsity girls divisions.

Lana Stapleton finished second overall with a time of 12:59 in the varsity girls division, followed by Graycee Wilson in third with a time of 13:07, Kimber Holly in sixth with a time of 14:08, KeAna Whitlock in eighth with a time of 14:12, Justynne Earl in ninth with a time of 14:19, Mykah Mebane in 11th with a time of 15:17 and Kate Wallis in 13th with a time of 15:30.

Kevin Velazquez led the varsity boys with a second place finish with a time of 17:56. He was followed by teammate Zack Seyffert in third with a time of 19:10, Rocco Foley in eighth with a time of 19:59, Cooper Behrend in 10th with a time of 20:17, and Riley Smith in 11th with a time of 20:23.

For the JV girls, Hailee Jade Peffer was fourth in a time of 16:39, Dakota Thomason 10th in 17:56, and Liz Chapman 11th in 17:59.

Bryce Mebane finished fifth for the JV boys in a time of 22:10 and Kaden Nichols 10th in 24:03.

The Running Eagles are scheduled to compete at the Rains Invitational Sept. 22.
