Christmas parade set for Saturday
The Canton Texas Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to host their annual Lighted Christmas Parade through downtown Canton at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10.
Parade line up will begin at 5:30 p.m. near Canton City Hall and will come down Buffalo Street until it reaches downtown, where the convoy will lap the square.
This year, the theme of the night is “Favorite Christmas Movie.” Van Zandt Newspapers Senior Reporter, David Barber will be emceeing the event.
Weather forecasts suggest that the temperature, while staying moderate throughout the day, could drop down into the low-30’s by the time the festivities begin to start.
Before and after the parade, Canton Main Street will host the Snow Day Festival, which will take place in front of the City Hall building. This event is scheduled to last until 9 p.m.
The festival will include a whole Santa’s Village where you can take pictures with Santa, a tunnel of lights, bounce houses, a Santa’s workshop game tent, a human sized snow globe to take photos with your family and other activities for the kids, food trucks, cookies, and other treats.
If you wish to enter a float into the parade, it will cost $50 for Chamber members and $60 for non-members until Dec. 9. All entries on the day of the event will cost $75. You can find information on how to register on www.cantontexaschamber.com.
