Swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Jan. 1

Plans are being finalized for the swearing-in ceremony for 16 Van Zandt County elected officials to begin the new year of 2023.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Lakeside Baptist Church (1291 Old Kaufman Road) in Canton.

VZC elected officials scheduled to be sworn in on Jan. 1 at Lakeside Baptist Church include the following: District Judge, 294th Judicial District, Chris Martin; Criminal District Attorney, Tonda Curry; County Judge, Andy Reese; County Court of Law Judge, Joshua Wintters; District Clerk, Karen Wilson; County Clerk, Susan Strickland; Sheriff, Joe Carter; County Treasurer, Kenny Edwards; Pct. 2 County Commissioner, Virgil Melton Jr.; Pct. 4 County Commissioner, Brandon Barton; Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace, Wade McMillan; Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace, Don Ashlock; Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace, Herbert Dunn; Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace, Scott Shinn; Pct. 1 Constable, Tommy Monk; and Pct. 3 Constable, Jeff Caughron.

A reception in the fellowship hall of the church is scheduled following the swearing-in ceremony in the worship center. The public is invited to attend.
