Bette Fletcher Baker passed on April 24, 2026, at the age of 98. She was born on February 26, 1928, in Mexia to B.Y. and Jeanette Fletcher.

Bette was a Christian by Faith which led her to be a founding member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Canton.

She taught Sunday School for many years for young and old. Bette was quick to share her faith in God the Father.

She enjoyed playing Bridge and was known to teach it to her friends and family. She was full of life, never met a stranger, loved her family and friends, and was a prayer warrior for all of the above.

As an avid reader, she gave away many books. Bette’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly called her Mimi.

Bette is preceded in death by her parents, B.Y. and Jeanette Fletcher; her husband, John Tom ‘Myrt’ Baker; her loving four-legged friend, Lacey Pearl; the father of her children, John Vernon Harwood, Jr.; and her brother, Johnny Fletcher.

She lived by the motto, ‘let go and let God.’ She is survived by: her sons, David Harwood (wife, Dayna) of Tyler and Mike Harwood (wife, Morganna) of Fort Worth; grandchildren: Jenny Higgs, Anna Gill, John Harwood, Joseph Harwood, and Kelcee Skoug; a bushel and a peck of great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews who loved their Mimi; and her brother, Steve Fletcher (wife, Susan) of Mexia.

A Celebration of Life for Bette was held on May 2, 2026, at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel in Canton. Visitation was held an hour prior to the service.
