A memorial service for Bobby Dudley Conner, 96, of Canton, was held Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, at Victory Church in Canton with Dr. J. Michael Burns and Pastor Rob Conner officiating. Interment was in Cool Springs.

Mr. Conner passed away Nov. 2, 2023, at his home. He was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Port Arthur to Robert Lee and Bertha Ora Dell Tucker Conner.

Bob was a member of Victory Church. He loved Gospel music and was a music director at several churches. Bob grew up in Port Arthur.

He joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. After he married Billie Jean, they raised their family in Southeast Texas. He worked for Gulf Oil for over 15 years before becoming self-employed. After retirement, they moved to Canton in 2000. Bob enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He will be remembered for making the best fried fish and smoked brisket.

Mr. Conner is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Conner; parents, Robert and Bertha Conner; daughter, Sharon Gay Conner; and sister, Peggy Odette Romanelli.

Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Janet and Mike Burns of Canton; son and daughterin- law, Rob and Pam Conner of Gretna, NE; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ella Allyne.
