Interment followed at Shooks Chapel Cemetery with David Rushin, Joseph Winchester, Matthew Winchester, Scott Winchester, Joe Cagle and BJ Anderson serving as pallbearers. Visitation was prior to the service on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at West Oaks Funeral Home.

David passed away peacefully in his sleep April 6, 2024. He was born November 20, 1932, in Sylvester, Texas, the son of Andy Thomas Rushin and Lillie Pearle Combs Rushin. He married Beatrice Marie Smith on September 1, 1951. He was married to the love of his life for 59 ½ years until her passing on February 15, 2011. They worked hard to raise a family that adored and respected them.

David was involved in FFA and basketball during his high school years before his graduation from Cumby High School. After graduating from business school in Tyler, he started his career at William Cameron Company in sales. After working hard and learning the business, he established Rushin Truss Company. He continued his passion for financial investments by trading his own stocks during retirement. The joy of his life, in addition to his family, was his farm. His cows were not livestock, they were pets. He passed this love and care of animals onto his granddaughter and grandchildren. David was a Christian and was involved in church his entire life. He was a member of the Canton Lions Club.

Survivors include his daughter, Debby Edmonds of Grand Prairie; granddaughter Stephanie Winchester and husband, Joseph, of Burleson; grandson David Rushin of Atlanta, Texas; and great-grandchildren Matthew and Lilly Winchester of Burleson. David is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Cagle, of Tyler, and numerous nieces and nephews. Other survivors include extended family Scott and Melody Winchester, Cody Winchester, and Nancy Peery.

David is preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Rushin, his son Donald Rushin, and his parents. Also preceding him in death were siblings Otis Rushin, Mary Callahan, Alice Burnett, JA “Junior” Rushin, and Bobbie Sue Campbell, and nieces and nephews.
