1954-2023

Mrs. Debra Jan Heddin passed peacefully in her home in the early morning of Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, after a long fight with kidney disease. Debbie was born Aug. 2, 1954, in Dallas to James Garlon Richards, Sr. and Nannette Hill Richards.

Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, James and Nannette Richards, and her brothers, Garlon and Kenneth Richards.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Roger D. Heddin, Sr.; her six children, Roger Heddin, Jr.; Rowdy Heddin and wife, Misty; Jamie Schwoyer and husband, Kip; Josh Heddin and wife, Stephanie; Jeremy Heddin and wife, Whitney; Jared Heddin and wife, Katelyn; her 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her sister, Lisa Peace, and brother Shane Richards; and several nieces and nephews.

Debbie truly loved children. She was a stay-at-home mother for many years and owned an in-home daycare before becoming a paraprofessional at Canton Elementary School. She earned her teaching degree in 2009. She retired from Canton ISD in 2022, after 26 years of service.

She enjoyed walking on the beach to collect shells, slot machines at the casino, and doing puzzles with her family. She loved cooking, canning, and baking for others. The selfless way she loved her family and friends allows her legacy to live on for generations to come.
