1965-2023

Ed Greer was born in Dallas on Sept. 17, 1965, to Lawrence Greer and his wife, the Late Edna “Mickie” Cole Greer.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mickie, and his brother, Justin Wesley Greer.

He is survived by his father, Lawrence; wife, Katy Wilkinson Greer; son, Wesley Cole Greer; sister, Donna Greer; father and mother-in-law, Jay Wilkinson and Mary Jane Wilkinson; sister-in-law, Kelley Wilkinson, and was surrounded in love by a large extended family.

Ed was born with a grin on his face that remained for the rest of his life. As a newborn, he was chosen as Baby of the Week at First Baptist Church, Downtown Dallas. Having been voted “Friendliest” of his senior class, Ed graduated with honors from South Garland High School in 1984. Ed met Katy in the restaurant industry, and they attended college together. He graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Katy and Ed were married in 1995, in Lake Tahoe, where Katy’s parents and grandparents had been married. The date, May 12, was Ed’s parents’ anniversary. Ed and Katy settled in Frisco and welcomed their son, Wesley Cole, who filled their lives with happiness. Ed spent over a decade in the restaurant industry, including owning his own gourmet food store, Pastabilities, at the Dallas Farmers Market. Ed found his true calling when he went to work at the Dallas World Trade Center, first with McEvoy, then Ivy Stone and settled in at Goetz Inc., where he spent the remainder of his career and made many great friendships.

The pride of Ed’s life were Katy and Wesley. He loved spending weekends either at his or Katy’s cabin in Canton or visiting Wesley at the University of Oklahoma. He will be present in spirit at Wesley’s graduation from OU in May.

Ed loved and was loved by many. He will be remembered for his kindness and most generous soul. He was the ultimate gentleman and caregiver, and he always brought out the best in people. Ed was the brightest light, full of love, and he spread joy wherever he went. He had a contagious smile and laugh. He brightened many people’s days in so many ways. He cherished his relationships, his family, and Katy and Wesley most of all.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on June 25, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, 6911 Lemmon Avenue, Dallas, 75209. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to TeamConner Childhood Cancer Foundation, info@teamconner.org. To truly honor Ed, please pass along his love and kindness.
