1935-2023

James Edward Hayes was born June 11, 1935, in Enid, Oklahoma. He retired from the United States Marine Corp after 26 years of service at the rank of Lt. Colonel. He flew combat missions during the Vietnam War. He was also a commercial airline pilot with Air Cal and American Airlines. He retired from American Airlines as a Captain. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia S Hayes of Canton; stepdaughter, Melodee McGinnis of Arlington; stepson, Brad McGinnis; daughter- in-law, Michelle McGinnis of Euless; grandson, Jackson McGinnis of Euless; and nephew, Dr. Bill Crowley of Victoria.

A memorial was held Monday, May 22, 2023, at Cheatham Memorial Methodist Church in Edgewood. The service was officiated by Pastor David McGlocklin and Pastor Alan Van Hooser. Burial was Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the DFW National Cemetery, Dallas, and was officiated by Pastor David McGlocklin. Memorials can be made in Jim’s name to the Cheatham Memorial Methodist Church in Edgewood or your favorite charity.
