Services for James Maurice “Jim” Reid, 93, of Mesquite, were held on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Pastor Mike Roberson officiating. Interment was in Haven of Memories. Mr. Reid passed away April 2, 2023, in Canton. He was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Edgewood to James Roscoe and Georgia Louise Dillard Reid.

Jim was a Christian by faith. He grew up in Edgewood. After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. Jim retired as the Assistant Chief Electrical Inspector for the City of Dallas. In his younger years, Jim was an avid square dancer. He loved rebuilding and refurbishing motors.

Mr. Reid is preceded in death by his wife, Fern Sallings Reid; parents: Roscoe and Georgie Reid; two brothers: Johnny and Tommy Reid; sister, Linda Joan Page; daughter, Patty Cooper, and grandson, Jason Parvin.

Jim is survived by his two daughters: Pam Reid of Edgewood, and Debbie and Bill Hudson of Royse City; four grandchildren: Tracy Butler; Justin Martin; Kristen Dodge, and Aaron Dodge; three great-grandchildren: Chase Butler; Keeley Parvin, and Peyton Martin; sister, Bernice Ewing, and longtime friend, Maurine Carter.

Pallbearers were Justin Martin, Peyton Martin, Chase Butler, Aaron Dodge, Steve Reid and Doug Reid. Honorary pallbearers were David Reid and Robert Ewing.

Visitation was one hour prior to the service.
