Lucinda Spruiell Bartlett
November 29, 1941 – December 3, 2024
Lucinda Spruiell Bartlett passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, in The Woodlands, Texas.
Cindy grew up in Van and attended Van High School where she was a majorette. She was a graduate of North Texas State University and an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. While beginning a teaching career she met her future husband, Robert F. ‘Bob’ Bartlett. They lived and raised a family in Canton.
Cindy enjoyed painting in many forms and the occasional tennis match. She was a tireless collector who combed antique shops and First Monday Trade Days braving all weather. She had an eye for decorating and was always up for a creative challenge. Cindy most enjoyed time with family and close friends both in person and over the phone. She enjoyed travel and was at her best on vacations with her wit in full force. Life often revolved around her children, and she taxied many a carload of raucous youths to destinations near and far. She appreciated a good network drama series complete with a Dr. Pepper or an occasional glass of wine. Holiday arrivals were often welcomed into her home with warmed chicken spaghetti and a crackling fire. She was proud to have been a multigenerational Texan and was in many ways unique. Her kindness, beauty, and ease of conversation will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children: Todd Bartlett of Spring, Tom Bartlett of Austin, and Jill Bartlett Wade (Carlton), of Austin; grandchildren, Ezra Bartlett of Austin; Avery, Emme and Ally Bartlett of Spring; William and Mary Bartlett Wade of Austin; brothers, Mike Spruiell of Austin,, and Pat Spruiell of Canton; along with many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Bartlett of Canton; and parents, Durward and Christine Spruiell of Van.
A private family service celebrating Cindy’s life will be held in Austin at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to The Hospice of East Texas (https://hospiceofeasttexas.org/).
