A funeral service was held for Mary Lee Thompson Morgan, 85, of Grand Saline, Friday, May 5, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Billy Smith officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to service.
Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Mary passed away in Grand Saline. She was born Feb. 24, 1938, to Annie and Monroe Thompson.
Mary grew up in the Van Zandt County area and married the love of her life, Johnny Mack Morgan, Sr., on July 15, 1954. They were married for 67 years and raised four children, Johnny Ray, Teresa, Mack, and Danny. Mary was affectionately known as “Nanny” to her 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Mary loved growing flowers, feeding the hummingbirds, and cooking. It has been said that she could make a bologna sandwich taste like a T-bone steak! Mary will be missed by all that knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Mack Morgan; her Mom and Dad, Annie and Monroe Thompson; son-in-law, Donny Tunnell, and granddaughter, Amanda Morgan.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Tunnell of Canton; sons, Johnny Ray Morgan and wife, Pam, of Grand Saline; Mack Morgan of Grand Saline, and Danny Morgan and wife, Lee, of Emory; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Interment was at Creagleville Cemetery, Van Zandt County.
