A celebration of life graveside service for Robert Clarence Westmoreland, Jr., 87, of Ben Wheeler was held Jan. 3, 2024, at Haven of Memories Memorial Park with Pastor Adam Muckleroy officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.

Robert was born July 15, 1936, in Wills Point, to Robert Clarence and Marietta (Long) Westmoreland. He graduated from Canton High School in 1954 followed by Tyler Junior College and East Texas State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Robert and Wanda were married on July 26, 1958, and shared 65 wonderful years together. After a long career at Kelly Springfield Tires, he spent his early retirement years substitute teaching, traveling, RV camping, woodworking, cooking, and spending time with his family and many friends. As an avid reader, he particularly enjoyed getting lost in Western novels and cookbooks, experimenting with different types of cuisines, and hosting annual chili cook-offs. He enjoyed watching sports, listening to and making music, playing the stand-up bass in a local band, the Cats n Jammers. Always a family man, Robert especially loved spending time with his Grandson and Great-Grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marietta Westmoreland. He is survived by his adored wife, Wanda; sons: Keith Westmoreland and family friend, Sharon Sweeney, Kelly Westmoreland and wife, Julie; grandson Clint Westmoreland and wife, Autumn; great grandchildren: Hensley and Carter; brothers: Billy Westmoreland and wife, Jackie, Benny Westmoreland and wife, Rhea.
