Silverio Hernandez Jr. passed away April 2, 2024, in Grapevine. He was born June 3, 1945, in Dallas to Silverio and Annie Raz Hernandez.

Silverio went by the nickname Sonny. He grew up near Old City Park in Dallas and graduated from Crozier Tech High School in 1963. He attended UT Arlington and later received his received his Customs Brokers license. Sonny called Grapevine his home for the last 35-plus years. He was married to his best friend, Lesa Kirkpatrick and would have been married 39 years in December 2024. He spent the latter part of his career working in Grapevine before retiring. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Grapevine.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He always had a skip in his step. Sonny loved traveling, cooking, grilling, exceptional whiskey, and wine. He was an epicurean. He loved to host dinner parties so he could cook and grill for friends and family. He was always the life of the party! He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. Not only could he talk about anything to anyone, but his well-versed knowledge on various subjects enabled him to offer unique perspectives that captivated those around him.

Sonny is preceded in death by his parents, Silverio and Annie Raz Hernandez.

He is survived by his wife, Lesa Kirkpatrick Hernandez, stepson, Brian Kirkpatrick; two sisters: Silvia Ann Alvarez and her husband, Lorenzo, and Mary Elizabeth Murphree; three nieces: Shantelle Camungol and her husband Bien, Michelle LoPresti and her husband John, and Annalisa Alvarez; nephew, Abel Alvarez; great-nieces and great-nephews: Alexis Salas and her husband Adrian, Christian Camungol, Abel Alvarez, Avery Camungol, Cameron Alvarez, Gavin, LoPresti, Ava Lo Presti; and great-great-niece, Aurora Salas.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. Inurnment will be in Cana Cemetery. Sonny will be deeply missed but fondly remembered. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved parents and family who preceded him in death.
