The Van Zandt County Veterans Memorial hosted its largest fundraising event of the year Sept. 13, welcoming golfers from across the area to Van Zandt Country Club for the 9th annual VZ Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament.

The Van Zandt Abstract team of Thomas Beckham, Craig Trevino, Craig Goff and Beau Williams took home the team title at the event with a score of 54. Michael Maxfield won the closest to the pin competition, finishing 6’6” shy of the pin on hole 9. Maxfield, competing on behalf of the Texas Bank and Trust team, was presented his $100 prize by Cary Hilliard.

The next VZC Veterans Memorial fundraiser will be their annual Turkey Shoot Nov. 19.
