From downed greenhouses and snapped powerlines to splintered trees, the Canton area was hit by a strong spring storm late Sunday night, May 15. Multiple reports of power outages across the region spurred Oncor electric services to locate areas of extensive damage to repair and restore electricity.

KID FISH DAY

The City of Canton along with the Texas Parks and Wildlife held Kid Fish Day on May 14. Children and their families had the opportunity to fish for catfish from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Two-Acre Pond. Free hotdogs were offered, and the day was packed with families trying their hand to catch one of the catfish stocked within the pond. Kid Fish Day set for May 14

Canton’s Kid Fish Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 14, on Two Acre Lake, located on Arnold Paul Road by the Canton Animal Shelter. Attendees are asked to bring their own tackle and gear this year, fishermen will be fishing for catfish. Hot dogs will be provided for those who attend. Fishing licenses are not needed for the event, as long as an adult has a child that they are helping fish.
