Time Capsule burial held in Canton July 4

Body Canton Mayor Lou Ann Everett delivered a heartfelt speech at the Time Capsule burial ceremony July 4 in front of Canton City Hall. The event marked a significant milestone for the community as they gathered to preserve their history and memories for future generations.

TxDOT postpones I-20 closure in VZC to July 15

Body Due to the weather forecast, TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) has postponed scheduling a closure on Interstate 20 in Van Zandt County until Monday, July 15. The closure will affect the FM 859 bridge, north of Canton, from 9 p.m.

New hours announced for FEMA DRC location in VZC

Body Van Zandt County has been approved for federal assistance from FEMA for the recent storms between April 26, 2024 - June 5, 2024. FEMA has opened a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) for any resident, renter and/or business owner who suffered damage during those storms.
