Council approves resolution opposing permit application

Body During an afternoon special called meeting of the Canton City Council July 3, council members approved in a 3-0 vote a resolution opposing a groundwater permit application dealing with the development of high-capacity wells drawing from the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer.
Canton Mayor Lou Ann Berry presented a question for Canton Assistant City Manager Steve Ruppenthal regarding a resolution authorizing the mayor to sign a letter to the Neches and Trinity Valleys Groundwater Conservation District. The resolution opposes Redtown Ranch Holdings LLC’s request for a permit to drill high water wells in the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer. Williams expresses concerns over ambulance service
