Numerous events highlight 67th Annual VZC Fair and Rodeo

It promises to be a busy week from March 29-April 5 during the 67th Annual Van Zandt County Fair and Rodeo at the VZC Fairgrounds in Canton. The AgriScience Fair, Container Grown Plants, Floral Cup, Public Speaking, and Robotics competitions all required a submission of entry on March 1.

The East Texas Council of Governments (ETCOG) Regional Statesmanship Award recognizes a local, state, or federal official that has demonstrated valuable dedicated service to regional cooperation. I am excited to announce that the 2025 Regional Statesman is former Van Zandt County Commissioner and ETCOG Board of Directors and Executive Committee member, Virgil Melton Jr.

Youth Diversion Program discussed during council meeting

The Canton City Council held its regular monthly meeting March 18 at Canton City Hall addressing a range of community issues and initiatives. One of the critical topics discussed was a new Youth Diversion program aimed at assisting juveniles charged with Class C misdemeanors.

Dinner on Main Street set for Saturday

The annual Dinner on Main Street in downtown Canton is scheduled for Saturday, March 29. “Imagine a magical evening under the starts where the heart of downtown Canton transforms into a vibrant dining experience,” said a Canton Main Street spokesperson.
