The introduction of a new board chairman and a new president/chief executive officer (CEO) were among the highlights during the Canton Texas Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Luncheon held Feb. 3 at Van Zandt Country Club.

Storm season is right around the corner, and East Texans know all too well how quickly severe weather can strike. In 2025, our region experienced multiple rounds of strong storms, including confirmed tornadoes, damaging winds, and widespread hail which left homes, businesses, and vehicles damaged across several counties.

On December 11, the Canton VFW Post 12219 held their annual banquet at the Canton Senior Center for winners of the Youth Scholarship Contests, Patriots Pen and Voice of Democracy. Canton VFW Post 12219 provided a spaghetti dinner.

Early Voting hours and locations were released recently by the Van Zandt County Clerk’s office for the March 3 Republican Party and Democratic Party Primary Election. Early Voting will begin Tuesday, Feb.
