Jason Wilhelm Veihl, of Canton, has been arrested following a solicitation of prostitution operation conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety. CBS 19 issued an article regarding the arrest of nine people, eight of which are from East Texas.

Food giveaway set East Oak Street Church of Christ will hold a food giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, June 4 at the church, located at 508 East Oak Street Edgewood.

Run for the Wall, an annual motorcycle ride promoting military veterans and honoring service, passed through the area early Sunday morning and included a stop at a pit stop at Brookshire’s in Terrell.

Canton High School led commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2022 on Friday, May 20, at Norris Birdwell Stadium. The stands were packed with loved ones and family members as the procession of graduates began with valedictorian Avery Nicks and salutatorian Katie Wilkerson leading the way.

On Friday, May 20, charges against former Van Zandt County Sheriff Steve Hendrix and two of his deputies for giving a false statement to a peace officer were dismissed. The dismissal comes at the heels of the indictment issued in March accusing Sheriff Hendrix, Chief Deputy Jerry Wood and Sgt.
